One of the most important and popular portals in Germany, Bild.de, published an extensive report on winter camping in Croatia, reported Romeo Draghicchio, director of the Croatian Tourist Board's Representative Office in Germany.

The author of the report is a journalist Helen Schmidt, who spent almost two months winter camping in Croatia with her camper van, with the aim of popularizing this form of vacation during the winter months, but also with the aim of further positioning Croatia as a year-round destination with an interesting offer. Namely, journalist Schmidt stayed in various Croatian destinations from mid-November to mid-January, i.e. over the course of two months she visited destinations from Istria to Dubrovnik and from Lika to Zagreb. That period served as inspiration for the report "Nine reasons for winter camping in Croatia" ("Neun Gründe für Wintercamping in Kroatien").

The first reason for visiting Croatia is the health aspect, with Lošinj being an ideal destination for anyone with respiratory problems. The second reason is the winter climate, which is described as very mild, but also as one that can have surprises in the form of strong gusts of wind. The third reason is the absence of crowds in the winter period and lower prices, while the fourth reason is based on the previous one and refers to the absence of crowds on ferries, in museums and all other attractions. The fifth and very important reason is the hospitality of the hosts, the sixth reason refers to the rich sports offer and infrastructure in the form of cycling, hiking and mountaineering trails, while in seventh place is the always important motive for travel - gastronomy. The list concludes with the attractive and high-quality wellness offer, namely skiing in ninth place as one of the unexplored motives for the arrival of an even greater number of Germans in Croatia.

"This is an excellent and very valuable report on the Croatian camping segment because it was published on the Bild.de portal, one of the most read portals in Germany that boasts over 30 million unique users. In addition to nine motives and reasons for visiting Croatia in the winter, the journalist also lists various examples of how to spend a winter vacation in Croatian destinations, and also lists 20 attractive campsites from all over Croatia that are open to guests in the winter.", concluded Draghicchio, adding that this was a trip organized by the Croatian Tourist Board in cooperation with partners, namely the Croatian Camping Association, and with great support from the country's tourist board system.

In Croatia, according to data from the Croatian Camping Association, there are currently 648 campsites, and more than 30 of them are open in winter.

"Last year, Croatian campsites recorded twice as many overnight stays compared to 2020, or 91% more overnight stays compared to the last pre-pandemic year of 2019. As for German tourists, a record number of them were recorded in campsites across Croatia. According to data from the German ADAC, Croatia is second in Europe in terms of the quality of camping products, and third in terms of the number of the highest quality campsites.", said Adriano Palman from the Croatian Camping Association.
