8% more overnight stays in Croatia in the first quarter

According to system data eVisitor, which includes tourist traffic realized in commercial and non-commercial facilities and nautical charter (eCrew system), in the period from January to the end of March more than 1,1 million arrivals i 3 million overnight stays, which compared to the same period last year represents a growth of 9 percent in arrivals i 8 percent in overnight stays.

From that it is Adriatic 2,1 million overnight stays were achieved, which is 12 percent more than last year, while the continent 890 thousand overnight stays were achieved, which represents a growth of 3 percent.

"The tourist year is taking place in challenging circumstances in which it is very difficult to predict the further course. Croatia will know how to use its strategic advantages such as security and proximity to source markets. Price competitiveness remains a crucial factor when choosing a destination and we must all pay special attention to this. If everyone in the value chain acts in solidarity, we will create the conditions for an excellent continuation of the tourist year and, more importantly, excellent foundations for the next one. We are satisfied with the results, but still realistic, knowing that the most challenging time of the tourist year is ahead of us."", he pointed out Tonči Glavina, Minister of Tourism and Sports.

When we segment Croatia's tourism result by counties, in the first quarter the most overnight stays were realized in Wife (700 thousand overnight stays), on Kvarner (513 thousand overnight stays) and in Split-Dalmatia County (326 thousand overnight stays), and looking at destinations in Zagreb, Rovinj, Split, Dubrovnik, Opatija, Poreč te Zadar.

"The tourism results so far confirm the positive trends, which correspond to our activities and campaigns, especially those for pre- and post-season promotion. We have modified and adapted communication messages in accordance with the current circumstances and have put the safety, quality and diversity of the offer that Croatia offers in the foreground. The desire to travel is present, as shown by the latest research by the European Travel Commission, according to which 82% of Europeans plan to travel during the spring and summer of this year, which is the highest percentage recorded since 2020, unless the geopolitical situation worsens. Travelers will pay special attention to prices and will choose those destinations that offer value for money., he said Kristjan Staničić, director of the Croatian Tourist Board. 

Seen according to markets, during the first three months the most overnight stays were made by guests from domestic market (over a million overnight stays), followed by Slovenians (over 314 thousand overnight stays), Austrians (220 thousand overnight stays), The Germans (over 209 thousand overnight stays) and guests from BIH (186 thousand overnight stays). 

Over 500 thousand overnight stays recorded during the extended Easter weekend 

System data eVisitor also show that in Croatia during the extended Easter weekend, i.e. in the period from April 3 to 6, 144.364 arrivals i 501.014 nights.

During the long weekend, most guests were from the market. Germany, domestic market, Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Slovakia etc. When we look at destinations, the most guests for the long weekend were Dubrovnik, Porec, Rovinj, Zagreb te Split.
