Novalje Tourist Board receives Croatian Island Product label for "MarsOvca" and "Life on Mars Trail" events

On the eve of the feast of St. Nicholas, the Days of Maritime Affairs and Inland Navigation were traditionally held in Šibenik, where the Director of the Port of Novalja Tomislav Kustić participated as a representative of the City of Novalja on the panel "New Investment Opportunities in the Improvement of Port Infrastructure and Utility Berths", followed by the Days of Regional Development and Funds, where the Croatian Island Product labels were awarded and the ceremonial signing of the Agreement on the Award of EU Grants. After the award, a session of the Island Council was held, which was also attended by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković.

On behalf of the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Property, Branko Bačić presented the Mayor of Novalja, Ivan Daba, at the award ceremony, with the Agreement on the allocation of funds for projects financed from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021 - 2026, for the project Amendments to the Spatial Plan of the City of Novalja (Development of a new generation spatial plan via the electronic system "ePlanovi" for the City of Novalja). The City of Novalja received EUR 192.000,00 in grants, which represents the maximum amount of co-financing and also opens up new opportunities for further development and improvement of the City of Novalja.

Also, yesterday, at the Days of Regional Development and Funds in Šibenik, the Ministry of Regional Development and European Funds awarded the Tourist Board of the City of Novalja the Croatian Island Product label for the following products: Manifestation "MarsOvca" and Manifestation "Life on Mars Trail"This prestigious label represents confirmation of the quality of our local products and projects, which proudly promotes and brands the recognizable and unique cultural identity of the islanders.

The director of the Novalja Tourist Board, Marina Šćiran, emphasizes that these events are important in the process of preserving heritage, promoting authentic experiences and traditional gastronomy of Pag..

"We must always know who we are, what our traditions and culture are, and we must carefully preserve the heritage of our ancestors," Šćiran points out.

In addition, other awards have also reached the worthy hands of hardworking islanders; Bartul Kašić High School Pag received three Croatian Island Product labels for the projects "Pag on the Menu" and "Ca, ça, what used to be cooked on our island" and for its traditional Cheese Festival, which has become a recognizable event celebrating the island's rich cultural heritage and gastronomy, the label was awarded to the Association of Pag Cheese Producers. The Croatian Island Product label was also awarded to the Pag Saltworks for its Pag salt product lines and the Benedictine Monastery of St. Margarita Pag, whose work and projects contribute to the preservation and promotion of the island's tradition and identity.
