Lošinj develops its identity as a destination of vitality through more than 90 certified delicacies

U Museum of Apoxyomenos, May 27, 2026, was held project presentation Taste of Vitality and awarding certificates to Lošinj caterers whose certified dishes combine gastronomy, vitality and modern nutritional guidelines.

This year, more than 90 delicacies from the offer carry the Taste of Vitality label. 18 Lošinj catering establishments: Artatore restaurant, Baracuda inn, Bora Bar trattoria & tartuferia, Borik Beach Restaurant, Breakfast Club Lošinj, Corrado tavern, Diana Steakhouse, Deveron Gastro Pub, Pinia restaurant - Veli Lošinj Health Resort, Mare tavern, Moby Dick Gelateria, Noštromo restaurant, Papa Bepi restaurant, Ridimutak beach bar, Silvana tavern, Veli žal restaurant, Olea restaurant - Vitality hotel Punta and Za kantuni restaurant.

Among the certified delicacies are numerous dishes made from crabs, fish and shellfish from the Lošinj waters, as well as dishes made from island lamb and game, the flavors of which are further enriched with Lošinj aromatic herbs. The methods of preparation of the certified dishes are designed to preserve the nutritional value of the food as much as possible, and the ingredients are carefully selected to contribute to energy levels after a meal.

The goal of the meeting was to further connect local stakeholders and present the project as a joint tool for strengthening the quality of the guest experience and extending their stay in the destination.

The caterers and guests were addressed by the director of the Tourist Board of the City of Mali Lošinj, Dalibor Cvitković, followed by the project manager, Prof. Karin Mimica (Gastronaut), and M.Sc. in Nutrition, Diana Gluhak Spajić (author of the Healthy Meal Standard), in charge of the nutritional part of the project.

Participants were presented with how Taste of Vitality to be used in communication with guests and promotion of Lošinj as an island where vitality is not only felt through the climate, sea and nature, but also tasted through gastronomy. Special emphasis is placed on the fact that the modern guest is increasingly looking for authentic experiences, local foods, nature and gastronomy combined into a unique destination experience.

After the presentation of the project and the awarding of certificates, a culinary presentation was held by students from the Ambroz Haračić High School, young people through whom the future of Lošinj gastronomy is growing, and wines from the local winemaker Komadine were presented, including Sansigot, a wine made from an indigenous Lošinj variety. 

The project is implemented by the Tourist Board of the Town of Mali Lošinj in cooperation with Abisala - Gastronaut Club, nutritionists and Lošinj caterers, with the aim of further strengthening Lošinj as a destination of vitality. All online posts related to Lošinj as a destination of gastronomy and a vital lifestyle are grouped under the hashtag #TasteofVitality.

In recent years, the Taste of Vitality project has outgrown the scope of the gastronomic label and has become one of the recognizable identity elements of Lošinj. Through a unique combination of nature, health and gastronomy, Lošinj continuously develops its uniqueness as a destination that translates vitality into authentic flavors and lifestyle.
