A Financing Agreement has been signed for the project "Improving the quality of social and tourist services in the Municipality of Posušje and Zagreb County through the expansion of the primary school in the Municipality of Posušje and the Turopolje black truffle trail".
Long ago, nobles set foot in the Turopolje region, and with every step they took, they put this independent small state on the historical map of Croatia. Today, Turopolje is being put on the world's gastronomic map by a completely different kind of nobility: Turopolje truffles!
Until recently, Turopolje truffles were a kind of urban myth – many doubted that Turopolje truffles even existed, while others speculated from afar that they were just a pale copy of the much more famous Istrian truffles. However, Turopolje truffles are now an increasingly well-known ingredient, prized among culinary experts in local restaurants in Turopolje, Zagreb.

///The story of how the Zagreb County Tourist Board branded the truffle
"I have to admit, the goal I set for myself was difficult, arduous, like the truffles themselves, it required a greater investment, but branding Turopolje as a destination that abounds in Turopolje truffles in its area, we are talking about as many as 16 different types of Turopolje truffles, was a challenge", said the director of the Zagreb County Tourist Board, Ivana Alilović, and added that the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds supported their work.
"We have signed a Financing Agreement for the project 'Improving the quality of social and tourist services in the Municipality of Posušje and Zagreb County through the expansion of the primary school in the Municipality of Posušje and the Turopolje black truffle trail'. This is a program to encourage cross-border cooperation between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina for the purpose of local community development", Alilović finally explained.
