The tourist boards of the municipalities of Kanfanar, Svetvinčenat and Žminj are organizing a series of events during February and March. online training intended for private landlords from the areas of these municipalities, which will cover numerous topics important to landlords - from legal regulations and administration, marketing and promotion, to topics related to landlords' tax obligations, safety during the tourist season, but also possibilities for adapting and improving business with the aim of achieving the best possible results.
The organization of these trainings is one of a series of joint activities and projects that have been carried out by the tourist boards of Kanfanar, Svetvinčenat and Žminj over the past years, all with the aim of strengthening networking and cooperation, providing services to renters and ensuring the highest quality information for all tourism stakeholders in these areas.
The fact that these places are increasingly popular and visited on the tourist map of Istria is also shown by the statistics, according to which in the past year a total of over 36,000 tourist arrivals and 309,000 tourist overnight stays, which means that tourists stay here on average for almost 9 days, which is above the average for the Istrian County. With a capacity of over 5,800 beds and 930 accommodation facilities in total for the entire area, tourism growth is visible from year to year, and precisely with the aim of managing tourism as sustainably as possible and preparing for the upcoming season as qualitatively as possible, in the coming period, landlords will have the opportunity to educate themselves on all important topics and current events.

The education cycle "With knowledge to a successful 2022 season" will offer the following to renters over a total of six terms:
MODULE 1: Administrative operations and basic preparations for the 2022 season – Interligo -16.2. at 18:00 p.m. (duration 2:15 h)
The first in a series of trainings will be held by Anamarija Cicarelli and Meri Čizmić Kraljević from Interligo doo - a consultancy for private landlords. Anamarija Cicarelli is an experienced educator and author of a number of specialized books on managing family accommodation, and Meri Čizmić Kraljević is the editor-in-chief of the popular magazine "Apartman Plus" intended for private landlords, an educator and co-author of professional books on family accommodation.
Through this training, landlords will be presented with everything about private accommodation administration (documentation that landlords need to keep, price lists, issuing invoices, what apartments must have according to the Regulations, inspectors' arrival at the facility, taxes, etc.), but will also provide an overview of current tourism trends and advice on how to best prepare for the upcoming season.
MODULE 2: Certification of eco-friendly accommodation "EcoDomus" and Categorization of accommodation - - Administrative Department for Tourism IŽ - 23.3. at 18:00 (duration 1:30 hours)
The second training is organized in cooperation and with the assistance of the Administrative Department for Tourism of Istria, and contains two topics that will be presented by Milena Radošević as an external expert associate of the Istrian County Tourism Board for the EcoDomus program, and Saša Vadanjel, senior expert associate for professional affairs from the Separate Place of Work of the Istrian County Tourism Board - Rovinj.
In the first part of the training, landlords will have the opportunity to hear from Milena Radošević about the increasingly popular "EcoDomus" certificate, which has been developed and promoted by the county tourism department for years, and is intended for those accommodation facilities that decide to adhere to the criteria set through this program for sustainable and ecological business operations, all with the aim of encouraging sustainability and positioning the Istrian County as an eco-friendly destination, which today's tourists are increasingly seeking.
Below, Saša Vadanjel will talk about the categorization process, and it will be an opportunity for future landlords to find out what the steps are before starting to provide accommodation services, as well as for current landlords who will be reminded of the current regulations and recategorization obligations.
MODULE 3: Social networks in tourism – Miško Macolić-Tomičić (Marketing) – March 2nd at 2.3:00 PM (duration 18 hours)
The increasing influence of social networks as a promotion tool compared to classic advertising models is becoming imperative for small landlords as well. How to successfully promote yourself on social networks, what opportunities are available to us and how to make the most of each social network, will be discussed by Miško Macolić-Tomičić - a digital marketing expert and co-owner of the Digital Agency Marketinghing, who has worked on many tourism projects throughout his career, from creating a strategy and leading through a digital strategy, or as an expert specialist in the areas of website and store optimization (SEO), advertising, conversion optimization... In addition to being an experienced educator and lecturer on marketing courses at the Istrian Polytechnic, the Faculty of Economics in Rijeka, the Diopter Open University and the School of Economics in Pula, he has also gained extensive work experience by collaborating with numerous regional and national organizations and companies (NP Brijuni, TZ Istria County, San Servolo, Autowill, Istra Adventure, Maslinica resort...).
MODULE 4: Are you a renter or a host? Find out how this difference can have multiple effects on your income – Dubravko Fijačko – March 9.3th at 18:00 PM (duration 2:30 h)
Dubravko Fijačko is a certified trainer of guide interpreters, and is currently working on new education programs for 21st century interpreters and on a specialized program of interpretation of eno-gastro heritage, as the author of the project. Last year, he was awarded the prestigious national award "Simply the Best" for successful cooperation with the local community in creating new tourist products and for a creative approach to interpretation. He is the owner of a travel agency and has many years of practical experience in tourism, mainly in organizing private tours around Croatia. During this training, he will talk to landlords about how to go from landlord to host, what details make a difference in the accommodation offer, what added value we can offer guests, how to be creative in 6 steps, and examples of good practice.
MODULE 5: Tax obligations of landlords – Tax Administration – 10.3. at 10:00 am (duration 1 hour)
How to do business legally from a tax perspective will be presented to landlords by representatives of the Tax Administration: Siniša Novak (Supervision Service), Vlasta Močibob (Head of the Rovinj-Rovigno Branch Office) and Jadranka Krizmanić (Head of the Pazin Regional Office). Landlords will be explained their obligations and procedures regarding membership fees to tourist boards, payment of VAT on commission when doing business with foreign agencies, payment of tax on receipts from landlords and other topics from the area of the tax system for landlords.
MODULE 6: Safety in the tourist season and the importance of websites for landlords – Ministry of Interior and Apartmanica – March 16.3 at 18:00 PM (duration 1 hour)
At the last training session in the cycle, landlords will have the opportunity to hear about methods of preparing for a safer tourist season, which will be discussed by representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, with the aim of introducing landlords to preventive activities carried out by the Police Department and advising on actions in the facility to achieve better safety for guests and property.
After the topic of security, the Apartmanica team, specializing in this area, will present to renters why it is important to have your own website when providing accommodation services, what all the benefits are, and how to use your own website to earn more from renting.
