Mobile application Bikademy, which in recent years has been developing a model for encouraging daily cycling through a reward system, is entering a new phase of development. In partnership with VeChain global ones have been launched Bicademy Challenges, which expands the concept beyond local and national boundaries. With this step forward, the platform is no longer tied to individual destinations, but enables user participation on a global level, with unique rules and a reward system.

From the beginning, Bikademy has positioned itself as a tool that uses gamification elements to encourage changes in daily habits. The focus is not on sports performance, but on routine movement - going to work, to the store or shorter city distances.

Global Challenges further emphasize that approach as they allow users to log rides, compare results and participate in monthly rankings, regardless of location. The minimum activity threshold remains low, which points to an inclusive model aimed at a wide range of users.

Blockchain as an infrastructure solution

Behind the system is blockchain technology, which is used to validate activities and distribute rewards. It is this segment that allows for global scaling without the need for local infrastructure.

In this context, the partnership with VeChain has an operational role as it provides the technical prerequisites for the transparent management of the reward system and its expansion to different markets. At the same time, the model enables the monitoring of data related to the saving of carbon dioxide emissions, which positions it in the broader framework of the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) approach.

Croatian users in the parallel challenge system

Despite the global expansion, existing users are not excluded from local initiatives. Croatian users automatically participate in the national challenge Residents' Clash Croatia, while at the same time they can be part of global rankings.

Such a parallel model makes it possible to maintain local engagement while opening up to a wider market, which can be relevant for destination management, especially in the context of the development of sustainable mobility.

Potential for application in destinations and organizations

In addition to the user segment, Bikademy develops tools that are aimed at cities, regions and business systems. Through models such as Residents' Clash and Employees' Clash It enables the involvement of citizens and employees in organized challenges, while monitoring key indicators such as the number of rides, kilometers traveled, and emission reductions.

Such models can be applied in the development of smart destinations, especially in the context of reducing traffic congestion, encouraging active tourism, and extending guest stays through additional amenities.

Despite the technological background, the user experience remains simplifiedThe application works on the basic principle of activity tracking without the need for additional technical knowledge, which is an important prerequisite for wider adoption.

A new phase of development and implications for tourism

By entering the global phase, Bikademy is moving from a local initiative to a digital platform with the potential for application in various segments of tourism and urban mobility.

The focus remains on encouraging everyday mobility and more sustainable modes of transport, but with the added element of global competitiveness and rewards. This combination may be of interest to destinations looking for tools to activate local residents and visitors towards sustainable patterns of behaviour.
