The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has published a Public Call Competitiveness of the tourism economy in 2026. - Green and digital transition of entrepreneurs in tourism for the award of small grants totaling EUR 3.403.640,00.
The program is intended for small business entities registered for hospitality and/or tourism activities, family farms/farmers registered for the provision of hospitality services, entities in nautical tourism, and natural persons - renters in households with the Local Host/Your Host recognition mark.
Glavina: 37 million euros for a more competitive tourism economy
"With this Public Call, we continue our continuous support for the development of the sustainability of small businesses, family farms and agricultural holdings, and from this year, for the first time, we are introducing a measure by which we co-finance providers of accommodation services in households with the Your Host/Local Host label. This is another segment of our assistance to those real, indigenous hosts. Through five measures, we focus on activities that contribute to the development of innovative and sustainable tourism products and services, improving environmentally friendly processes in the hospitality business, the circular economy, increasing energy efficiency and digitalizing business processes. With this year's Call, we have so far secured a total of 37 million euros for this purpose, and more than 4.100 projects have been co-financed through the program., said the Minister of Tourism and Sports Tonči Glavina.
The grant award program consists of measures A - Hotels, B - Family farms/farmers not in the ITR I Tourism Development Index area, C - Tourist agencies, D - Nautical tourism vessels and E - Electric vehicle charging stations.
For Measures A, B and C, the total amount of support planned is €2.203.640,00, and it relates to:
Measure A - existing facilities that have a decision on the type and category of a catering facility from the Hotels group: Hotel, Heritage Hotel, Diffuse Hotel, Aparthotel, Tourist resort, Tourist apartments (exclusively those categorized by the Ministry), Spa types of hotels and Boarding house - comfort, provided that they are not in the area of the ITR I Tourist Development Index.
Measure B - family farms/farmers that are not in the ITR I Tourism Development Index area.
These two measures co-finance the costs of using renewable energy sources, reducing the carbon footprint, digitizing business and reducing pollution in work processes, as well as improving and increasing the quality of the offer.
Measure C - tourist agencies, which will co-finance costs related to improving work processes through the purchase of audio-visual equipment for guiding and informing tourists, especially disabled people, and the purchase of equipment used for the implementation of excursions and package deals.
For these three measures, an award procedure is being carried out with the evaluation of project proposals according to pre-defined criteria. The public call in the form of a temporary public call is open from 3 to 30 July 2026.
Through Measures D and F Projects will be co-financed in the amount of €1.200.000, and they relate to:
Measure D - nautical tourism vessels, with the aim of encouraging the green transition of our tourist fleet for multi-day cruises and excursions, as well as vessels in the charter fleet.
Measure E - charging stations for electric vehicles, which aims to establish the largest possible network of charging stations for electric vehicles and co-finance the purchase of equipment for this purpose. The measure is intended primarily for natural persons - renters in households with an assigned identification mark Local Host / Your host but also to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (commercial companies outside the public sector, trades and cooperatives) registered for catering and/or tourist activities and providing accommodation services.
The public call for measures D and E is conducted as a permanently open call on a first-come, first-served basis until the available funds are used up. Applications will be accepted starting on 31 July at 9:00 a.m. and no later than 31 August. 2026 until 12:00 noon.
