Public call for support in less developed tourist areas of Istria completed

The Administrative Department for Tourism of the Istrian County has announced a Public Call for Grants within the Program for Promoting Projects and Products in Less Developed Areas in Tourism in 2022.

The main objective of the support is to encourage the sustainable and balanced development of Istria, the development of year-round tourism and the creation of a comprehensive experience of Istria as a tourist destination. A total of 170.000 kuna has been allocated in the budget of the Istrian County for the implementation of this program, and the maximum possible amount of individual support is 50.000 kuna.

The program encourages DEVELOPMENT OF TOURIST PRODUCTS AND PROJECTS OF SPECIAL INTEREST IN LESS DEVELOPED TOURIST AREAS OF ISTRIA, and grants are awarded for the development of public tourist infrastructure and selective forms of tourism, such as outdoor, active and sports tourism, touring, cultural and religious tourism, food and gastronomy, congress and wellness tourism, and for projects that valorize autochthonous values, Istrian tradition, culture and customs.

The costs of arranging, equipping and marking walkways, hiking, mountaineering, educational and other thematic trails, arranging, equipping and marking picnic areas, climbing areas, lookouts, caves and other interesting places (points of interest) that are part of a whole, continuing the arrangement and equipping of theme houses, museums and interpretation centres for the purpose of bringing them to a tourist function, and designing a specific tourist product, promotion and marketing, and installing bicycle counters on arranged cycling and hiking trails are co-financed.

Eligible applicants are local self-government units, local tourist boards and public cultural institutions whose founders are local self-government units.
