From August 11 to 18, 2025, police vessel crews Rijeka Maritime Police Stations during the monitoring of traffic at sea, they recorded 68 violations of illegal gliding at a distance of less than 300 meters from the coast.
Violations were recorded in the waters off the islands of Rab, Krk, Lošinj and Cres, and in the sea off Jadranovo.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the following were caught committing violations at sea:
- 28 German citizens
- 17 Italian citizens
- five Slovenian citizens
- four citizens each of Austria and Slovakia
- three Dutch citizens
- two Hungarian citizens
- citizens of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, France and Ukraine
Due to the commission of a misdemeanor in the domain of the Maritime Code, they were all charged fines.

In order to prevent the death of boaters, swimmers and divers, the maritime police will continue to to monitor more closely safety at sea, they order from the MUP and remind them of the obligation to comply with the regulations, namely:
- planing is not allowed within 300 meters of the shore
- Bathers are allowed to swim up to the fence of a well-maintained beach or 100 meters from the shore of a natural beach.
- Divers must mark the dive site in a prescribed manner.
