Međimurje is richer for a heritage hotel in the renovated Jakopić family manor

Family Jakopić For generations, it has proven that dedication, knowledge, and love for viticulture can be transformed into a story that goes beyond the framework of a family business and becomes the value of the entire region.

In the heart of the hills of Međimurje, in Železna Gora, this story has received a new, special chapter - with the opening of Heritage Hotel Terbotz, places where history, top wines and a contemporary vacation experience meet.

The grand opening on Friday, April 17th marked an important moment not only for the Jakopić family, but also for the tourist offer of Međimurje. The renovated historic Zichy-Terbócz manor, which has been carefully reconstructed and converted into heritage hotel, offers guests accommodation in a space that combines historical architecture and modern standards, and the location in Železna Gora offers a breathtaking view of the wine-growing landscapes.

Behind the project is the long-term work of the Jakopić family, in which Branimir and Nada Jakopic laid the foundations, while the new generation - the sons Filip, Martin and Vinko, gradually takes over and develops the family business. The family winery continues to rely on the continuity of production and the quality of its wines, which have been winning prestigious international awards for years, including the Decanter awards, confirming the continuity of quality that is the foundation of everything they do.

The Heritage Hotel Terbotz project was implemented within the Operational Program of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021 - 2026. The total value of the project is 4.931.504,48 euros, of which 3.481.682,44 euros was provided through grants.

Host, Branimir Jakopic, he pointed out that the entire project is the multi-generational effort of his family and the vision of his late father. Martina, which was the foundation of everything that has been achieved today. He emphasized that he and his brother grew up with their father's message to respect and build on the work of previous generations, which became the guiding principle of their work.

"In this success Our entire family is involved, as well as the hardworking employees we are proud of. This facility combines a touch of the past with modern tourist standards and luxury.”, said Jakopić, adding that the goal is for the manor and hotel to become a strong brand, because, as he emphasized, behind all successful Croatian brands are united families.

The Heritage Hotel Terbotz has 34 beds in 16 rooms, and consists of the old part, which is protected as cultural heritage, and the new part, which has numerous facilities such as saunas, wellness and massages, and each room has a jacuzzi. Everything was designed by designers and architects so that the view from all rooms 'shoots' at the surrounding vineyards, which are the wealth of our region and the Jakopić family.

Prefect of Međimurje County Matija Posavec He emphasized that this project represents a concrete example of investment in the development of the tourist offer in the Međimurje region and the quality use of available support and financing programs. He emphasized that the Jakopić family, through their work, shows how love for the homeland, knowledge and courage can be transformed into a recognizable and successful tourism story.

"This project that we are opening today is not just a moment in which we celebrate your success, the success of the generation of the Jakopić family, this is the value of our entire region, the value of all of Međimurje, and I would say the value of all of Croatia. This is a way that symbolizes the people of Međimurje, our view of tourism and our understanding of what our values ​​are in the country we want to build – as a successful region in the heart of the European Union. This is today's Međimurje, this is today's Terbotz manor, this is today's Jakopić family.", Posavec said.

The opening ceremony was also attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković, who pointed out that economic, entrepreneurial and craft successes stem from strong, homogeneous and connected Croatian families, which are the foundation and core of society. He emphasized the importance of their role in the development of entrepreneurship and investment, congratulating the hosts on their effort, knowledge and investment in the project.

He also pointed out that this project is an example of the successful use of available funds and the synergy of public and private investment, emphasizing that the Government will continue with the policy of balanced regional development through infrastructure and social projects in all parts of Croatia, including Međimurje.

Minister of Tourism and Sports Tonči Glavina he pointed out that this project has both a symbolic and a very concrete value, since its implementation was largely made possible by co-financing from the funds of the Government of the Republic of Croatia through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. "AT "symbolically, but even more so in an operational sense, I am glad that thanks to the co-investment of 70 percent, or around 3,5 million euros, this facility was realized through funds from the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan", the minister said.

He added that in the next month to month and a half, two more projects worth around 12 million euros will be opened in Međimurje County, also financed by grants from the same program, with the aim of strengthening public tourism infrastructure.

The roots of the Jakopić winery date back to 1908, and today their story has developed into a comprehensive enogastronomic and tourist offer. On about fifteen hectares of vineyards, they cultivate varieties such as Graševina, Sauvignon, Pušipel and red wines, while restaurant and hotel guests have the opportunity to experience the harmony of taste, nature and tradition.

With the opening of the Heritage Hotel Terbotz, the Jakopić family once again confirms how heritage can be preserved and developed at the same time - creating a space in which every guest can feel the warmth of home, the richness of history, and the passion that is passed down from generation to generation.
