Hvar, an island that has been on the world film map for years

The island of Hvar has always had its place on the world film scene and is a great location for filming films and series.

So last summer, an American reality show, one of the most popular global reality shows of all time, was filmed in the town of Hvar and at the Amfora Hotel. It is a show that has conquered more than thirty countries around the world. The Bachelor, or Mr. Perfect.

The episode will air on Monday, February 14th, on the popular American television network ABC. It will feature the picturesque island of Hvar, which was voted the best island in Europe by the prestigious magazine Condé. Nast Traveler, while the Amfora Hotel will host reality stars for a full week.

In a few years, film tourism has become a new travel trend for many tourists who want to take pictures or visit the locations of their favorite films or series. However, the island of Hvar was already recognized as a world-class film location some fifty years ago, when the feature film The Deep by the famous American director Orson Welles was filmed.

The Odyssey, about the most famous underwater explorer, Jacques Cousteau, was also filmed. Much of the filming took place on locations in the town of Hvar, Jelsa, Stari Grad and the Pakleni Islands. A few years ago, a commercial for Jean Paul Gaultier was also filmed on Hvar, which includes beautiful scenes from the pebble beach Dubovica and the popular Hvar promenade in the center of Hvar town. 

The reality show was filmed for the American show WAGS Miami – wives of American athletes. Filming took place all over the island, and at the Amfora and Adriana hotels. The reality show aired on E! Entertainment, part of NBCU Universal.

The island also hosted the hit reality show Made in Chelsea, which featured various island locations and served as an excellent advertisement that attracted young Britons to this desirable destination. In September last year, the popular Netflix cooking series Somebody Feed Phil was also filmed. Filming took place on location at the Palace Elisabeth Hotel and in the town of Hvar.
