In the Duke's Palace in Pag, the Pag gastronomic event was opened, on the menu of which awarded marks of a special standard of the traditional cuisine of the island of Pag - Pag on the menu.

The Pag on the Menu project was introduced to the attendees by Bartula Kašić Secondary School teacher Ljiljana Martinović and Vesna Karavanić, director of the Pag City Tourist Board. The winners were congratulated by Mihaela Kadija, director of the Zadar County Tourist Board, who emphasized the value of this project and supported Bartula Kašić Secondary School and the Pag City Tourist Board, stating that the presentation of the Zadar County's gastronomic offer is unimaginable without Pag.

"Today, together with the Bartula Kašić Secondary School and representatives of catering establishments from the area of the City of Pag and Kolan, we awarded certificates of a special standard of traditional cuisine of the island of Pag - Pag on a menu that offers local, indigenous dishes and drinks and meets the prescribed criteria of the public call. The Tourist Board of the City of Pag continuously works on promoting the gastronomic offer, as evidenced by numerous presentations of Pag brands and specialties, and the rich tradition and quality of Pag cheese, lamb, cottage cheese, salt, baškotin, štrik, rafijole are recognized in Croatia and abroad. This is also our motivation to continue working on creating a recognizable and quality tourist product in cooperation with catering establishments, companies, OPGs, Bartula Kašić Secondary School and other stakeholders.", she said Vesna Karavanić, director of the Tourist Board of the City of Pag, adding that the project "Pag on the Menu" was created based on the long-term work of students and employees of the Bartul Kašić Secondary School on the preservation and revitalization of the traditional cuisine of our island. Thus, in cooperation with the tourist boards of the entire island and the associations of craftsmen of Pag and Novalja, a special standard was created that prescribes the conditions that applicants must meet in order to become certificate holders.

The aim of the standard/project is to promote the traditional gastronomy of the island of Pag based on the event and recipe booklet "Ca, ça, what used to be cooked on my island" by the Bartul Kašić Pag High School, which has been bringing back from oblivion somewhat neglected old island dishes since 2007; promoting and raising the attractiveness of catering professions and preserving the intangible heritage of the island of Pag. This standard branded the traditional island cuisine and gave the island of Pag a new gastronomic product.

"After the awarding of certificates, visitors were able to visit the sales stand of our Slani Škoj Student Cooperative, where hard-working cooperative members sold some of their products, the most interesting of which were our recipe booklet "Ca, ča, what was once cooked on our island" and Pag lace jewelry (both products are also holders of the Croatian Island Product - HOP label), and watch a performance by some of our students in the Družina Cultural and Artistic Association.", concludes Karavanić.
