Zagreb County Tourist Board announces public competition for the best host of the year

The Zagreb County Tourist Board has announced a public tender for selection of the best host of 2025, the holder of the label Your host/Local Host.

The competition for the best holder of the Your Host label is open until September 4, 2025, and the right to apply from Zagreb County is 33 accommodation providers who already wear Your host tagThis label, established by the Croatian National Tourist Board and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, highlights family-run accommodation that provides guests with an authentic, high-quality and sustainable experience of Croatia.

The Your Host/Local Host label gives holders a market advantage by standing out among private renters and attracting guests looking for an authentic experience. Their offer will be highlighted in the promotional activities of the Croatian National Tourist Board in emitting markets and digital channels.

This approach is contributing to the growing popularity of Zagreb County, known for its top-notch vacation homes ideal for escaping the city's hustle and bustle. In the first seven months of 2025, domestic tourist overnight stays increased by 10 percent, and compared to the record year of 2019, the total number of overnight stays increased by an impressive 35 percent.

"This competition represents our commitment to raising the quality of the tourist offer of Zagreb County. We want to highlight those hosts who offer their guests more than just accommodation; they share the stories, traditions and soul of our destination. The Local Host label guarantees that guests will experience true Croatian hospitality in an authentic family environment," said the director of the Zagreb County Tourist Board Ivana Alilović.

Criteria for choosing the best host

The best host will be selected according to criteria which encompass authenticity and local connection through the preservation of tradition and cultural heritage, hospitality and personalization through a personal approach and warm welcome, sustainability and environmental awareness through the application of green practices, quality communication where the host acts as an ambassador of the destination, and continuous education and constant improvement of skills.

Application procedure

Applications are submitted exclusively electronically to the address info@visitzagrebcounty.hr, everything until September 4, 2025, at 11:59 p.m., with a hint "Application for the Public Competition for the Best Host of the Year - Your Host/Local Host"Along with the completed application form, which is available on the website of the Zagreb County Tourist Board, candidates can attach photo and video materials of their facilities.

Announcement of winners at the Croatian Tourism Days

The best host from each county and the City of Zagreb will be announced at the Croatian Tourism Days on November 20, 2025, while the national winner, Your Host of the Year/Local Host, will be announced on November 21 at the grand finale broadcast live by Croatian Radio and Television.
