Pical Resort 5* is the largest tourist project in Croatia with a total investment value in the Pical zone of 200 million eurosThis investment positions Poreč and Croatia in the luxury resort tourism market and significantly contributes to the development of the local economy and destination.

In the first two months after opening, Pical has recorded excellent occupancy and demand for the upcoming summer season, with reservations already at around 70% of the annual plan.

Pical Resort is located along the newly renovated Parenzana promenade and Pical beach, just a few minutes' walk from the historic center of Poreč. Conceived as an open-plan resort, it is naturally connected to the city through newly renovated publicly accessible promenades, beaches, sports facilities and other spaces intended for guests and the local community alike.

The resort was developed through three hotel concepts.

Central Hotel Pical, created by the reconstruction of the former Pical hotel, brings together the main common facilities of the resort. Pical Family Hotel is adapted to families and holidays with children, while Pical Suites represents the most luxurious part of the resort with its own reception, swimming pools and the Parenzana restaurant.

In addition to a diverse range of accommodation, guests have access to the main restaurant and the Dine Around concept, which, in collaboration with Michelin-starred chefs, allows guests to choose from eight restaurants. The resort's offer includes facilities focused on luxury, family, wellness, gourmet and active holidays, including the first ESPA wellness center in Croatia, the international Purobeach Club, Rooftop Bar by Laurent-Perrier, indoor and outdoor pools and a rich sports infrastructure.

An important part of the project is also Pical Event Center, the largest congress center in Istria with a capacity of up to 1.200 participants and one of only three congress centers of this size in Croatia. This further positions Poreč as a year-round destination for business tourism and international events.

Pical Resort significantly contributes to the local economy through year-round operations, more than 800 new jobs and cooperation with local partners. The localization of the offer is strongly expressed in the food and beverage offer, so the resort offers, for example, local wines and beer, Istrian olive oil, oysters from Lim, fish and seafood from the Adriatic and numerous other Istrian delicacies.

Experience concierge offers unique experiences such as truffle hunting, visits to wine cellars or guided tours of the old town. The new Pical zone is designed as a space open to the local community through publicly accessible promenades, beaches, sports infrastructure and facilities used by both guests and citizens, and through an agreement with the Sports Community of the City of Poreč, the indoor and outdoor pools within the resort provide conditions for quality training for Poreč children and sports clubs throughout the year.

The project was implemented with the participation of numerous Croatian design, construction and specialized companies, while during the construction, up to 750 workers were engaged on the site daily. It was implemented according to the highest standards of sustainable construction and is the holder of a DGNB pre-certificate. Pical uses energy from solar and other renewable sources, with the implementation of rainwater collection and use systems and waste biocomposting. Special attention was paid to landscaping and horticulture, including the planting of more than 250 new trees.

"Pical Resort is changing the tourist image of Poreč, Istria and Croatia in the long term. It is especially important to us that this is a project that combines year-round business, quality jobs and a strong local identity. The project is the result of the joint work of numerous experts from Valamar and partners from Croatia, carried out in cooperation with the City of Poreč. We believe that investments like this represent the direction of Croatian tourism development towards greater added value and sustainable development of destinations.", he said Željko Kukurin, President of the Board of Directors of Valamar.

The resort's identity is inspired by Parenzana, the former railway line that connected Poreč and Trieste, and today, as a promenade and cycling path, it symbolically connects three countries across Istria.

The spirit of Parenzana is woven into the architecture, interior design, gourmet offerings, wellness facilities and the Art Pical concept, through which the resort presents numerous works of art from the Valamar Riviera collection, collected since the 1960s, as well as new art, original works by award-winning Croatian and Istrian artists and artists from the countries that Parenzana connects. Works by academic and local authors further connect the resort with the identity of Poreč and Istria and create an authentic experience of the space and destination.
