Competition for the best host of Zagreb County in 2026 has opened

Zagreb County Tourist Board she announced public competition for the best host in 2026, intended for holders of the Your Host/Local Host labelThe competition is open. until September 4, 2026, and its goal is to highlight family accommodation providers who contribute to the quality of the tourist offer with their hospitality, authentic approach and care for the destination.

The Local Host label was established by the Croatian National Tourist Board and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Croatia to promote quality, sustainable and authentic family accommodation. Recognizing the best hosts will further highlight the importance of their role in creating a positive destination experience.

"Hosts are ambassadors of our destination, people who convey its values ​​to guests in a personal and authentic way. With their recommendations, stories and attention, they reveal the character of the place where they live and allow guests to experience Zagreb County from a local perspective. In our county, we currently have 37 holders of the Your Host/Local Host label, or 37 tourism ambassadors, and we want to have even more in the future. Therefore, we encourage all family accommodation providers who meet the requirements to apply for the label, and existing holders to present their work and run for the best host in Zagreb County", said the director of the Zagreb County Tourist Board Ivana Alilović.

Holders of the label guarantee guests proven quality of accommodation, a responsible attitude towards the destination and personal involvement of the host. In addition to greater market recognition, the label allows them to use the official visual identity and additional promotion through the communication and marketing channels of the Croatian Tourist Board.

The best host will be selected based on several criteria, including authenticity and connection to the local community, hospitality and personalized approach, business sustainability, quality of communication with guests, knowledge of the destination, continuous improvement, and collaboration with local stakeholders. Guest ratings on online accommodation booking platforms will also be taken into account.

Entry Form are submitted exclusively electronically to the address info@visitzagrebcounty.hr do September 4, 2026 at 9:50 a.m., with the indication: "Application for the Public Competition for the Best Host of the Year – Your Host/Local Host" and fulfilled application form.

Candidates can also submit photos and video materials of their facility.

Awards to the best hosts from each Croatian county and the City of Zagreb will be presented at Croatian Tourism Days, November 19, 2026., while The national winner, Your Host of the Year/Local Host, will be announced the day after at the closing ceremony..
