Florence has approved a major change to new short-term rentals, expanding restrictions outside the UNESCO-protected historic center, in what city officials describe as an unprecedented move in Italy. The measure, approved on May 26, dramatically expands the areas where new Airbnb-style rentals cannot open. The restrictions will now cover more than 100.000 residential properties.
