Art cinema Arsen and summer stage Barone in the most prestigious European network of independent cinemas

Art Cinema Arsen, together with the summer stage at the Barone Fortress, has become part of Europa Cinemas. This is the most prestigious European network of independent cinemas, consisting of 1221 cinemas and 3060 theaters in 38 countries. With its film programs on two stages, at the Arsen Art House and at the Barone Fortress, Šibenik has become a recognized place for cinematography with an emphasis on European and independent film.

The Europa Cinemas network, established in 1992, is supported by the European Commission and the Creative Europe programme, and its main objective is to provide operational and financial support to cinemas that commit to giving a significant part of their programming to non-national European films, and to establish activities for young audiences. The Fortress of Culture, with Art Cinema Arsen, the main cinema operator in Šibenik, became part of the Europa Cinemas mini-network together with Kinoteka Zlatna vrata in Split, Dokukina KIC and Art Cinema Metropolis in Zagreb, Kino “30. Svibnja” in Daruvar and Gradski kino Novska.

"After two decades of emptiness and the absence of a cinema in the city center, our main goal - to permanently provide the opportunity to watch carefully selected, recent and archive film production in Šibenik - has become a reality", says the Arsen Art House and announces rewards for loyal audiences. Namely, to celebrate joining the Europa Cinemas network, for every cinema ticket purchased at the box office, the Arsen Art House will reward you once more. The promotion applies to the film program of the Arsen Art Cinema in December.

The entire film and audiovisual program of the Arsen Cinema will continue to be oriented towards all age groups, with a focus on children and young people.

Šibenik is recognized among local filmmakers with its summer film program at the Barone Fortress and the Arsen House of Art, and will continue to build its international relevance through projects such as Connecting Cinemas, financed by the Creative Europe Fund. The Arsen film program is the most important program segment of the hall, mainly because, after 20 years, a permanent film program is once again available in the center of Šibenik in a suitable and top-notch equipped space. In addition, the Arsen film program after six years represents a natural continuation of the summer film evenings at the Barone Fortress, which clearly shows that there is a local audience in Šibenik interested in independent film, especially domestic and regional productions.
